Arsenal capitalized on a Liverpool error at the back to secure a vital 2-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, closing the gap on the Reds to just two points in the Premier League title race.
Emile Smith Rowe opened the scoring for the Gunners in the first half, pouncing on a loose pass from Liverpool's Gabriel Magalhães. Gabriel Martinelli doubled the lead in the second half with a clinical finish after being played in by Bukayo Saka.
The win moves Arsenal up to second place in the table, just two points behind Liverpool, who remain top despite the defeat. The victory also extends the Gunners' unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was delighted with his team's performance, saying: "We played with great intensity and focus today. We knew we had to win to keep our title hopes alive, and the players delivered a fantastic performance.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was disappointed with his team's display, saying: "We were not at our best today. We made too many mistakes, and Arsenal punished us.
The result sets up a thrilling title race in the final months of the season. Arsenal will be hoping to continue their good form and close the gap even further, while Liverpool will be looking to bounce back and maintain their lead at the top of the table.
