Early Life
Abraham "Bram" Stoker was born on November 8, 1847, in Clontarf, County Dublin, Ireland. Despite suffering from a debilitating illness in his childhood, he became a prolific writer in adulthood.
Literary Career
Stoker is best known for his 1897 Gothic horror novel, Dracula. The novel tells the story of Count Dracula, a Transylvanian vampire, and his attempts to feed on the blood of a group of young women in England. Dracula became a critical and commercial success and has since been adapted into numerous films, television shows, and stage plays.
Legacy
Stoker died in London in 1912. His legacy as a master of horror literature has endured, and Dracula remains one of the most influential horror novels ever written. Stoker's work has also influenced other authors, including Stephen King and Anne Rice.
