England U21s thrash Serbia 9-1
Young Lions victorious in Euro 2025 qualifying match
England's under-21s team enjoyed a resounding 9-1 victory over Serbia in their second UEFA Under-21 European Championship qualifying match at Nottingham Forest's City Ground on Thursday evening.
The Young Lions took the lead through Jaden Philogene's goal in the ninth minute and never looked back, with goals from Liam Delap, Emile Smith Rowe, Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga, and a brace from Oliver Skipp sealing a comprehensive win.
Serbia's consolation goal came from Andrija Lukovic in the 55th minute, but England's dominance was never in doubt.
The victory keeps England top of Group F with two wins from two matches and leaves them in a strong position to qualify for the European Championships in Romania and Georgia in 2025.
Speaking after the match, England manager Lee Carsley said: "I'm delighted with the performance and the result. We controlled the game from start to finish and created a lot of chances. It was a great team performance and I'm really pleased with the way the players played."
England's next match is away to Albania on Tuesday, October 17th.
